As the world went crazy about the beheading video of US journalist James Foley, the FBI too confirmed that the video was authentic. But FBI’s confirmation may not be enough to prove the authenticity of the video which was apparently released by an Islamic State sympathizer on YouTube. Here are some reasons why the video could be fake.

The video is unusually polished

We have seen beheading videos before. At least some of us did. If you have watched any beheading video or any Islamic terror video before, you must be aware that the videos generally have poor video and audio quality. The James Foley execution is unusually polished at any Middle Eastern militant standards. The video is not only well-shot and well edited, it appears to have a great script with several punch-lines. Several of those lines are told by Foley himself.

There is no Islamic chanting during the execution

If you watch the video properly, you’ll see professional audio recording equipment attached to Foley. Still, we do not hear any Islamic chant during the beheading. Any Islamic execution is associated with certain chants like “Allahu Akbar”. But never do we hear anything even close to that. This is a strong point to consider when we are discussing about an execution performed by an Islamic organization. It is near to impossible have any conversation for them without using words like “Inshallah”.

Selective graphic nature of the video

If you have the faintest idea how cruel and ruthless the Islamic State can be, you may wonder why the actual beheading is not shown on camera. The video only shows a beginning part of the apparent beheading and a moaning sound. The moaning sound could be unreal. We have seen other execution videos from other Islamic militant organization. There the execution is videotaped shamelessly. Not showing the actual execution is a video which intends to send a strong message to Obama looks fishy.
